Dental Corner Hawaii is the vision of fifth generation Hawaii native, Dr. Darren Wong. Raised in Nuuanu, a suburb of Honolulu, Dr. Wong embraces the aloha spirit.

Dr. Wong went to school on the mainland where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of California San Francisco in 2001. He met his wife-to-be, Amanda, during his time at dental school. She was his lab partner. Shortly after graduation, they married and moved back to Hawaii.

Dr. Wong is an avid surfer. His enthusiasm for surfing and passion for dentistry were the basis for the name of his first practice, The Tooth Surfer LLC. The Tooth Surfer LLC was founded in 2004 in the Diamond Head district of Honolulu. It was the perfect location, convenient for his patients and only blocks from the surf. In true Tooth Surfer form, Dr. Wong had a shower installed in the office so he could surf during his lunch hour without interrupting his patient schedule.

For years Dr. Amanda Wilson-Wong, an Orthodontist, spent one week a month commuting to San Francisco where she held positions with a number of Bay Area Orthodontists. Dr. Wong and Amanda made the decision to move to the Bay Area so both could continue their practices full time and gain experience with the latest dental technologies not available in Hawaii at that time. Their goal was always to return to Hawaii to raise a family and grow The Tooth Surfer practice.

Dr. Wong made every effort to hire capable management for The Tooth Surfer. The challenge of finding people with his passion and expertise proved difficult. He flew back regularly to try to develop his practice into one that fulfilled his vision of providing the highest quality patient care and service. Dr. Wong admits that his vision was never met.

Realizing that the only way for his practice to succeed was to return to Hawaii and manage it himself, Dr. Wong recently brought his young family, Amanda and their two children, Evan and Olivia, back to Hawaii. Shortly after his return he purchased a thriving dental practice in Pearl City. Though he loved the name The Tooth Surfer, his practice and vision had grown to something bigger. Dr. Wong created Dental Corner Hawaii, renaming both offices - Dental Corner Diamond Head and Dental Corner Pearl City.

The Dental Corner Hawaii mission is to provide the best possible dental care and patient comfort to all of Oahu. With that mission as his guide, Dr. Wong is committed to insuring that all patients will be 100% satisfied.
